decomposing Satie – 6-mallet vibraphone solo

$30.00

"decomposing Satie" is a piece of reverent bullying for 6-mallet vibraphone, inspired by one of my favorite musical personalities, the famously dead Erik Satie (1866-1925). The work loosely takes the form of an attempted séance with Satie, blending lush and spooky 6-note chords with mangled fragments of his Gymnopédie No. 1. As one might expect, the séance bears no fruit – not for any failings on the part of the supernatural... I just don't speak French.

"decomposing Satie" was commissioned by Daniel Myers. The score includes both movements and is delivered as a PDF by email.
