Sunrise, on canvas for solo 4.3 marimba (2024)
"Sunrise, on canvas" is an early-intermediate 4-mallet solo, inspired by J. M. W. Turner's Sunrise, with a Boat between Headlands (c. 1840-5). It draws from Turner's watercolors in waves of (sometimes murky) harmony, and has flashes of the reflection of the sun – in some ways a nod to Mitchell Peters' iconic "Yellow After the Rain”.
